  • Explanation of the reasons and the need for the project:
The cultural field in Montenegro is original and interesting, like its Balkan counterparts, and is somewhat different from other European countries. It is very important to integrate them into international art discourse, as well as to acquaint art workers from other countries - with the culture of Montenegro.
The Beruchiy Art Project is held annually in Ukraine and other countries, revealing, through art, topics that are important for society and the artists themselves. We considered this approach useful and fruitful for Montenegro, and in 2019 our Foundation invited the organizers of the project to conduct it in Montenegro, on the basis of our residence.
  • Step-by-step description of the project process:
Artists and curators came to the base of the residence, the Foundation set the theme of the residence - Exodus, as overcoming the current social situation for a more favorable and just future.

During two weeks, at the residence, the artists got to know and interacted with each other, discussed the topic of social changes set by the Foundation, and learned about the culture of Montenegro. The Foundation provided artists and curators with accommodation, meals, a program of acquaintance with Montenegro, materials. Artists have created creative works. A cultural and professional exchange took place.

As a result of two weeks of residency, the Foundation organized an exhibition at the House of the Troops in Morin, near the base of the residence.

August 26 - September 25, the Foundation organized an exhibition at the National Museum of Montenegro, Gallery "Miodrag Dado Djuric", and an exhibition at the Museum of History of Kiev - October 2-16.
As a result of the residence, the BERUCHIY catalog was released. EXODUS. 019.

  • Outcome of the project:
A large-scale cultural and professional exchange took place between artists from different countries, and their acquaintance with the culture of Montenegro.

Local residents got acquainted with contemporary art and actors of the international art scene, learned about the similarities between Montenegrin and Ukrainian histories and geo-political situations.

Four exhibitions were held, a catalog of the results of the residence was printed, connections were established between the participants, which entailed future projects.
